WEEK ONE: TUESDAY

[ While Isaac hadn’t come down with cabin fever as bad as some, it’s still a huge relief to actually go outside. Unsurprisingly the grounds are beautiful and well-kept, and the garden especially so.

Isaac only came here to enjoy the fresh air, but once he he spots a familiar face he’ll head over. ]

Hey Akira! You here to check out the garden too?

[honestly? Akira is fucking delighted when they are given access to the grounds. a little bit of fresh air goes a long way, so it is no surprise that he has been spending the majority of his time outside since Monday]

[he's crouched in front of one of the flower beds when Isaac finds him, fingers extended to brush against the rose petals]

Oh— hey, Isaac.

[a smile, and he stands up straight]

I've always been pretty fond of flowers. You too?

[stormsoff]

Heh, not really. It's just nice to be outside! You like flowers, huh? Yeah, somehow I can see that.

[ it's said kindly, so it's probably not a dig. ]

Actually, since I found you... there's been something I've wanted to ask you for a while. You said there's someone else here from your home, right? You never told me who it was.

I worked at a flower shop for a few months. Part of my job was to put together bouquets for the customers.

[though. . . at Isaac's question, Akira's expression turns pensive]

[he eventually answers, albeit slowly]

You've talked to him, right?

Yeah, the detective. I was wondering something about the both of you. Do either of you still have the same abilities from home? Whatever it was you could do.



[ honestly it's just a guess--he's really just kind of. assuming? akira probably had powers?????? ]

[Akira pauses, studying Isaac carefully, like he's considering how to respond to this]

No. I don't. And I assume Akechi doesn't, either. Though I didn't ask.

Did Akechi tell you about it?

Huh? Oh, no, I just ... kinda thought you probably had powers.

[ that's it. that's the whole dang thing. ]

So you can't access any of it at all, right? It's happened to a couple of us, but it's still just ... hard to believe. Have you ever talked to the girls about it?

You just assumed we had powers?

[said with a lilt of amusement, like who just ASSUMES that. . . probably people who come from worlds where powers are common, he thinks]

I haven't, but that's because the reason my abilities don't work here might be because the conditions where they do work haven't been met.

[i.e. this isn't the Metaverse]

Uh, yeah, kinda. I'd honestly be a lot more surprised if you didn't. [ a pause. ] Besides, Hunter made an interesting point to me really early on. We all seem to come from places that, like, aren't really normal, so it follows that we'd have powers to deal with whatever is going on, right?

[ but uh. ]

Wait, what does that even mean?

[huh. Akira just sounds amused]

Hunter and I talked about that when we first got here. You guys are right; everyone here seems to be "abnormal" in some way. For a definition of "abnormal."

[WHAT IS THE DEFINITION OF NORMAL ANYWAY. . . EH]

It means that Akechi and I can only use our powers in a certain world, and this world that we're in isn't it.

[stormsoff]

It's kind of weird, you know? Why specifically target people with powers only to immediately take them away? Like what was the whole point?

[ but he'll nod along at that explanation. ] I think I get it. So you and Akechi can do the same thing? Were you guys friends back home?



[ forgive him, he knows not what he says. ]
