[ Wherever Isaac finds him, he'll kind of move to join his friend slowly, watching him, trying to gauge how he is. In contrast to a lot of folks at the end of the trial, he's almost shockingly calm. He doesn't seem upset, really, just ... focused. ]
[. . . it's understandable, though. Akira makes an acknowledging noise when Isaac answers, and it doesn't at all sound judgmental. just. . . understanding]
It's not.
. . . don't get me wrong, I'm-- glad, I'm grateful, that we might be able to save Hunter.
[there's a relief that he feels over that which washes over him like a soothing balm, curing most of the negativity he felt throughout the trial]
But it isn't fair to Asch, or Meltryllis. Or even Nikki.
[ there is a horrible flare of true hate at Melty's name
which ... probably isn't fair, and he knows it, given the rush of guilt afterwards. ]
Nope.
[ JUST KINDA THROWS HIMSELF ON THE GROUND next to akira it's fine ]
I wish I knew who to be mad at. Master Blue, I guess. Though I wouldn't be shocked if we found something out about him and it was all, well suddenly we need to feel bad for him too!
[ thROWS HIS ARMS IN THE AIR
and then lets them fall. across his face. goodbye. ]
[that gets an appreciative noise from Akira, even as he draws one knee up to rest his chin against same]
When you mentioned that the dead were closer than we thought, and if we talked to them like they were there they might just respond to us-- what did that mean?
I don't know yet. It's most likely they're ghosts, but she said she'd have to do some research about me using my powers, whatever that means. I'm gonna go see her again on Monday.
All I know is that ... death is an end, sure. But it's not the end. Not always. And what Peach implied is that...
They're here, Akira. They're ... around us. I think I just ... can't see them. Yet.
[he emphasizes that, and some small part of him hopes that Peach can get Isaac his powers back. if only so they could speak with those who had died again. . . somehow, some way]
But that brings up another question: why are they still here?
[is that how the real afterlife works?? DO PEOPLE JUST MEANDER AROUND AFTER DYING. . .]
Ghosts that stick around ... they usually died in a traumatic way, or they have some unfinished business that's keeping them here. ... rarely, they can just be incredibly stubborn.
That's how it should work, but the rules could be different here for all I know.
[while Akira has no doubt the mansion's rules are different from the rules Isaac is familiar with at home, he also doesn't doubt the explanations Isaac gives. Akira, with no experience with the afterlife at all, defers to the younger boy's wisdom on this. Isaac is the one who frequently sees and communicates with ghosts and spirits, after all]
Well. . . pretty much everyone who has died thus far has died in a traumatic way. Right?
[and they all have unfinished business, presuming all of them want to know what the heck is up with this spooky mansion]
Yeah. .... you know, when Haruka died, I spent like an hour just pacing near the stairs. Wherever they died is the place you're likeliest to find a ghost, and it was driving me crazy that I was right there and still couldn't see a thing. I'm sure her ghost must have been there...!
[ a huge sigh. ]
Plus, what Peach said about them still being here... what if the people who died are under the same effect that hides evidence from us? I keep thinking about that.
Makes sense, right? At least, it's the only way I can make sense of what she said. If they're here, the only way we couldn't see them is because of something like that.
This whole place is built on "altered perceptions," I think. Who even knows how much of this is real? What if it's like, we see this beautiful mansion, but everything is actually decrepit and rotting? Ugh.
... I talked to Beau about this too, but we should get everyone together, dude. Peach told me all of us talking was the best way to gather clues, so... why haven't we done it yet?
WEEK TWO: POST-TRIAL
[ Wherever Isaac finds him, he'll kind of move to join his friend slowly, watching him, trying to gauge how he is. In contrast to a lot of folks at the end of the trial, he's almost shockingly calm. He doesn't seem upset, really, just ... focused. ]
You okay, dude? How are you?
no subject
[he tilts his head up when he hears Isaac, greeting the younger boy with a wave]
I'm-- [a breath out] I'm okay.
[his feelings are mixed. he's upset and sad and frustrated, but hopeful. he believes they did the right thing]
How are you?
no subject
[ he says it so casually it might not sound like what it actually is, but ... it is.
Isaac will join him, the look on his face nothing more than thoughtful, but he's telling the truth: there is a horrible, angry jealousy in him ]
Asch didn't get so lucky, you know?
[ All of them yelling about Hunter when
they might be able to save him
and Hunter was actually guilty.
Asch got none of this courtesy, and Isaac is furious about it in a way he can't help. ]
It's dumb. Hunter's my friend too, you know? But... it's just not fair, is it.
no subject
It's not.
. . . don't get me wrong, I'm-- glad, I'm grateful, that we might be able to save Hunter.
[there's a relief that he feels over that which washes over him like a soothing balm, curing most of the negativity he felt throughout the trial]

Why didn't we have the option to cure them?

I wish I knew who to be mad at, too. It sucks being angry at something amorphous.
Something we can't see or feel or touch or punch.

he knows Akira isn't making fun of him. Akira might still be one of the only people who's never teased him at all. ]
You're telling me. It's just ... the worst.
... you did good back there, though.
no subject
Thanks.
[he was only doing what he believed was right]
. . . hey, Isaac. Can I ask you a question about something you told me the other day?
no subject
Yeah. If it's you, dude? Anything.
[ he seems to mean it. ]

When you mentioned that the dead were closer than we thought, and if we talked to them like they were there they might just respond to us-- what did that mean?

[ Isaac sits up. ]
I talked to Peach this week and asked her if there might be any way I can use my powers to talk to the dead.
She was open to it. And she said that. About the dead being close by.
no subject
Are they spirits, similar to the ones you said you could see at home?

[he'd buy that, tbh]
Yeah. . . yeah. From the beginning I've felt like there was something about this mansion that altered our perceptions.
[Peach's questions do you always believe everything that you see and hear has really stuck with him]
I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same for the ghosts of those who died here.
no subject

[IN THE ANIMES]
It's hard to filter out what's real from what isn't. What we should trust from what is clearly fake.
And that makes solving the mysteries of this place even more difficult.
no subject
This kinda stuff could drive you crazy. [ MAKES A FACE. ] If I wasn't so used to stuff being weird, it just might.

[triple-p coming in clutch in the next week!!]
. . . so I guess that's all we can do. Keep talking. Keep asking questions. Keep poking around for clue after clue.

[ because of logistics, isaac, hush. ]

[upset?]
But you're right. Somehow, someway, we need to hold a meeting to make sure everyone is on the same page.
